We invite all graduates (Seniors, Master’s, Ph.D.’s) to attend the College Commencement, although the Friday afternoon ceremony on May 16th at 3:00 p.m. in Moby Arena is specifically for Masters and Ph.D. candidates.
Caps and Gowns: All students must wear traditional academic regalia. Students graduating with academic honors (cum laude, magna cum laude, and summa cum laude) will wear gold robes. Cum Laude students MUST bring your letter from the Registrar’s Office to the Art Lounge in the Lory Student Center to pick up your regalia. University Honors Scholars wear green robes and a bachelor stole.
Our regalia company will have a sufficient supply available to accommodate everyone. Regalia will be available in the Art Lounge of the Lory Student Center on Tuesday, May 13th, Wednesday, May 14th and Thursday, May 15th from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Return of regalia will be immediately after the ceremony in the Art Lounge, Lory Student Center. Please note that you may be charged for late returns. Any late returns should be sent directly to Unique Recognition, 333 E 4th St, Ste 102, Loveland, CO 80537. Rental costs for regalia are as follows (tax included, no refund or deposit): Students, except for doctoral candidates, keep cap and tassel
Bachelor's cap, gown, and tassel $18.00
Extra souvenir tassels (green, gold or degree colors) $6.00
Master's cap, gown, hood, tassel $35.00
Ph.D. cap, gown, hood, tassel $35.00
(Note: The regalia supplier will accept CASH ONLY for payment)
Your tassel (russet for Natural Resources) identifies the degree you are receiving. Master's hood colors match the degree, not the major. All Master's tassels are black.
In recognition of the tradition and dignity of a graduation ceremony, you should not decorate your regalia in any way. Tassels are worn on the left side. Do not switch your tassel during the ceremony. Your mortarboard cap should be worn level, not on the back of your head.
Lineup: You will receive your name card and line-up instructions from the Dean’s Office staffers. During the ceremony, your name will be read from the card as you receive your diploma cover. Line up with other students in your major.
Guests: Due to limited space, there is a LIMIT OF 5 on the NUMBER OF GUESTS you may invite to the ceremony. Persons in wheelchairs can be accommodated. An elevator is available in the Student Center. Those who might have difficulty in climbing steps should arrive early. Interpretation services for the hearing impaired will be arranged at each ceremony.

This card will be used to read your name during the ceremony.
Decorum: This ceremony is a very public event, reflecting upon you, your Department, your College, and the University. For this reason, we request that your behavior during the ceremony reflect the dignity and importance of this occasion for all of us. University administrators and members of the Board of Governors will participate in our ceremony. Alcoholic beverages or inappropriate substances or objects are not in keeping with the dignified nature of our commencement ceremony and are not permitted. Such items will be confiscated as you enter the line-up area. This ceremony is the capstone of the academic experience for you, other students, and families and friends. Your recognition of the rights of others to enjoy the ceremony free from disruptive or inappropriate behavior is appreciated.
