Student Organizations

Graduate Student Information Clearing House: The FRWS graduate student organization, comprised of FRWS volunteer graduate students will represent the FRWS graduate student body and serve as a conduit for communicating issues between the FRWS faculty and graduate students in order to participate in department decision making. 

The Forest Products Society (FPS) : is an international not-for-profit technical association founded in 1947 to provide an information network for all segments of the forest products industry — from standing tree to finished product. It fosters innovation and research in the environmentally sound processing and use of wood and fiber resources by disseminating information and providing forums for networking and the exchange of knowledge. The Colorado State University FPS Student Chapter officially formed during the fall 2007 semester. 

Range Ecology Club: The Student Chapter, as a recognized chapter of the Colorado Section of the Society for Range Management, is a student organization composed of individuals with a common interest in the study, management, and rational use of rangelands and related ecosystems. The Range Ecology Club is represented on Warner College of Natural Resources College Council and the College of Agriculture Ag Council.

Students measuring treesSociety of American Foresters: The Society of American Foresters (SAF) is the national scientific and educational organization representing the forestry profession in the United States. Founded in 1900 by Gifford Pinchot (among others), it is the largest professional society for foresters in the world.

CSU Chapter of the Society for Conservation Biology: The Society for Conservation Biology (SCB) is an international professional organization dedicated to promoting the scientific study of the phenomena that affect the maintenance, loss, and restoration of biological diversity. The Society's membership comprises a wide range of people interested in the conservation and study of biological diversity: resource managers, educators, government and private conservation workers, and students make up the more than 10,000 members world-wide.

Student Association for Fire Ecology (SAFE): SAFE provides students from diverse backgrounds an open forum on fire ecology through which research can be shared, networks formed, and funding and information resources can be accessed. The CSU chapter is a member of the National Student Association for Fire Ecology organization. SAFE-CSU Membership is free, all are welcome to attend. Membership in the Association for Fire Ecology is very moderately priced for students.

Student Firefighter Association at Colorado State University: The Colorado State University's Student Firefighter Association (SFA), is a new association comprised of active, past, and aspiring wildland firefighters, students, professors and researchers.

Watershed ClubWCNR's watershed club members work collabortively to learn what the profession offers, investigate solutions to real-world problems, and determine what remains unknown about field problems.  Of course it's not all business, so come check it out and have some fun!
