Meetings:

We have not yet scheduled our first offical meeting. But we will be deciding that next week at our officers meeting. Please check back here to find out when the meeting will be.

At that meeting we will be doing a quick overview of what we want to do this year and all the fun things we are going to try to accomplish. Also, we will be collecting dues for the club. 


Activities/Events: 
  • Camping trip with Ken Morgan of the DOW out to a ranch on the eastern plains for the night of Sep. 12th.
  • Mission Wolf Sep 27-28th. Go play with some wolves!!!!

 

Meeting Notes

 SCB Meeting March 12, 2008 in Catalyst Coffee at 4:30 pm.

Objective: to discuss ideas for club  Hold a regular showing of Planet Earth or Planet in Peril

Nicole to contact Indy Burke

Durrell had a showing of Planet Earth wed. night in DC Bottoms. Housing and Dining may have already paid for it. Possibility.


Find food for meetings that are cheaper than $30 local sustainable  Alicia to work on finding sponsors and donations for film festival  Hold a Conservation Day in the fall on the plaza to promote conservation and get our name out there

Have “Conserve Energy in Homes” brochure to hand out

 Have a booth at the Sustainable Living Fair in September  Support Roots & Shoots with education in elementary schools

Attend Project Learning Tree to help get ideas for teaching conservation

Talk to ELC

Lory State Park – give the kids an ownership of a certain area by returning to the same spot

find an organization that will fund field trips, possibly Natural Heritage or Nature Conservancy

 Form a Community Garden possibly attain land from a church or community organization

Youth Community Garden has a meeting every other Thursday February 14th – May 8th   at noon  in LSC Lower floor next to Bagel Place, we should attend to see if we can help them or use their ideas to make our own.

 Have a group attend CSUnity to help community  Work with Rocky Mountain Large Cats  Get members to regularly write meeting times on their classroom chalkboards to help spread interest  Find someone specific to be responsible for fliers (advertising / marketing person)  Bring members together, have socials

Camping trip Aug. and/or Sept.

Hiking, snowshoeing, climbing, trips that  have a conservation talk or service project such as trash pickup and general relationship building to form a stronger group

Mandate that the Council attends the community (non college) chapter of SCB
